Some shirts exist simply to be worn. This one was made to be understood.
The fabric is Şile cloth — but not as it is ordinarily produced. Here, the process begins with seawater, brought to the boil with flour added directly to the pot: a thick, starchy broth into which the raw threads are submerged. The heat and the starch strengthen each filament before it ever reaches the loom. The yarn is then woven by hand on traditional wooden looms, and once complete, the cloth is washed again — in the sea. What remains is a textile of extraordinary intelligence: dense enough to hold its shape, open enough to breathe, and uniquely capable of drawing perspiration away from the body and releasing it into the air, leaving the wearer dry even on the hottest summer day.
This is not a feature added to the fabric. It is the fabric.
Cut to the classic FN mintan pattern — the stand collar, the V-opening with a short run of mother-of-pearl buttons, the generous sleeve, the back pleat that allows the body to move freely — the shirt is woven in a bold black-and-ivory stripe that shifts with the light and the texture of the cloth.
